Home at a tower
Prince Barkat Ali, First Secretary of the Pakistani Embassy in Singapore, is a man of subtle testes. His home in horizon Tower reflects this, (a charming home design). It is impressive. All the accents have been carefully selected; each positioned in such a way that there is an overall feeling of order and harmony. Beautiful things adorn the apartment which the result is home depot with high aesthetics, but there is no feeling of excessive fuss and clutter.
The prince, whose ancestors at one time reigned over the northern region of Pakistan, has always had a deep interest in interior decoration. Even as a young boy, he could not bear messy rooms. He always kept his own room nice and tidy.
Despite prince Barkat’s passion for lovely things he does not buy indiscriminately. Each item is given a lot of though; is there a proper place to display it in the home, will it coordinate well with the other accents? Only when he is absolutely satisfied, does a particular piece of item become part of his decor scheme.
Having traveled and lived in many part of the world, the Prince has been exposed to many different style of home décor. He has viewed everything with a keen eye, noting ideas that that suited on his tasted and requirement.
Italian design on the whole greatly impressed Prince Barkat. He feels that the Italians have achieved a very good sense of balance. They tend to go for the elegant and sophisticated look but also value comport and practicality. Such a balance is what the prince himself has tried to create in his own home.
“a house should have a feeling of looking after you,” he said. But he realizes that this has to work both ways. You have to look after it before it can look after you.
