Little Nest
The home design has gradually taken on a look of east-west eclecticism. Kashmiri carpets from India, tapestries and antique clocks from France, huge copper pots from Holland, candles and cowbells from Switzerland, frame poster-sized enlargements of family photos – these are just few of the object that have been placed with eyes appeal. Some of the old furniture have been retained in the three bedrooms and given a new look by talented Swiss-born Doris (home depot and home improvement master designs). Old
wooden cupboards have been stripped of their doors, painted, and curtained with pretty fabric. An ordinary sideboard has been admirably converted into an antique-looking piece with farmhouse painting. Bed sheets have been dressed up with flounces to make a pretty bed-cover. More recently, their attention turned to the two bathrooms which have been completely transformed. What will they do next?
“The garden grounds are being leveled”!
Undoubtedly, this has turned out to be an Indo-Swiss adventure that has resulted in a home of vitality and charm. And, obviously for the fun to last, it is a house that the Pals will never declare “finish.”
A guest summed it up quite well. Every one of the specious rooms is superbly furnished, lending the whole property a dignified and formal air. However, the mood is far from cold and formidable. Despite its grandeur, it has achieved some warmth.
The decor is an expression of the owner’s exquisite taste. The fact that they have an appreciation for the finer things in life is obvious but what impresses is their talent for being able to express this thought various possessions without appearing ostentatious.
